7 Principles to Embed Creativity Thinking and Innovation Everyday
Innovation leaders apply 7 simple principles for managing people and managing people’s expectations to ease the stalemates often felt throughout the innovation process.
Language and Leverage for Creative Thinking
Leaders and managers are reminded that the language they use can influences how the message they mean to deliver is received. They practice using tools to engage other people’s creativity-thinking, including question phrasing, solution presenting and responding to new proposals.Creativity and Innovation: What’s style got to do with it?
Navigating round different personality styles to choose creativity thinking methods can be tough. This keynote/workshop shows how to make it easier. Based on findings from the Myers Briggs Type Indicator® Instrument, leaders and managers quickly review and then practice stretching thinking beyond their own stylistic ‘box’.

Culture-building for New Ideas, Decisions, Actions and Outcomes
Leaders don’t have time to learn in a workshop and then transfer that learning to the workplace. We’ve short-cut that process by embedding learning within the practice of innovation. Using the Passport to Innovation approach, we created in 2001, leaders
- learn creativity and innovation management skills through exercises and use them to improve the business
- leverage insights into natural styles and abilities to promote self-management and to set expectations for others
- apply the learning to business issues
- get help overcoming obstacles to implementing innovation
- capture the learning, learn from the knowledge, pass on the insights, improve
The result? Innovation leadership development at the same time as innovating for the organization. Win. Win. Win.
Passport to Innovation ™ – Whole
Passport to Innovation ™ is creativityland inc’s proprietary management and leadership program that embeds creativity and innovation everyday on the job. It develops creative leadership talents that delivers innovation.
Passport to Innovation (PTI) helps leaders regain the creative confidence they used to have when they were kids. PTI takes executives through a series of small to larger creativity and innovation successes through which they surprise themselves with how creative they can be. They integrate these new tools and methods with what they already know to achieve remarkable results.
PTI began in 2001. Its purpose: to influence incremental culture change to free people’s thinking so they could create, commit to and contribute to the organization’s new future. The entire program of 18 months yielded spectacular results for its first client, PHD Canada. Fred Forster, president and CEO PHD Canada, said that PTI, more than anything else, defined his media agency with regards to the creative work they do.
PTI can be called a management training program that reaches throughout the organization. As the executives learn new skills, they are accountable to use them with their associates and teams to advance the business. They learn ways to
- adjust behaviours to inspire creative thinking for innovation
- engage, encourage and support people to generate new ideas and carry out new decisions,
- use a variety of creativity thinking tools and change methods to advance the business agenda
As they learn together the executive team develops a collaborative cohort of innovation professionals. Together they find out how to keep an openness to risk taking, a tolerance for complexity and a sensitivity to the environment; they set up new relationships, and walk the talk for leveraging creativity. Engagement levels of their reports and colleagues rise as the program continues.
Do you want help with your innovation? Let’s talk so we can learn how we can partner to free your thinking to create new futures.
Passport to Innovation – in Chunks
One or two-day training programs are more common; they fit the current mold for executive development. We can meet your need for a day or two training as well. We’d assemble a program that enables your teams to create, produce, commit to and collaboratively contribute to creating new futures.

Styles for Creativity
Creating new futures goes more smoothly when people are aware of what they naturally do and use those strengths collaboratively to deliver innovation. That’s why we look at style. Team-building, engagement, communication, leadership, creativity and innovation are all positively influenced by knowing the human dynamics and approaches to creating.
It is worthwhile to invest in overcoming interpersonal hurdles that may result from style differences. We want to help you realize your full potential and make best use of your human resources investment.
